Where I Live

I Have lived all my life in Long Eaton and unless I win the lottery I guess I will die there.

Long Eaton is a medium to large town in Derbyshire situated near the borders with Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire

The town is lucky enough to be quite near the M1 and only 1 Junction away from East Midlands Airport, The A52 (Brian Clough Way) links Long Eaton to 2 major cities Nottingham and Derby and also has good rail links.  Like most towns and cities for that matter there is alot new houses being built on any available plot of land.

Long Eaton surrounds a vast park know as West Park, which houses the usual sports facilities and sometimes even hosts events such as the Steam Rally.

The town center is not what it once was, all the little specialist shops have all gone and even the market as dwindled down to about 10 to 15 stalls but we do have 2 large supermarkets Tesco and Asda. The high street does have some of the large brand shops such as Boots, Supadrugs, Rymans, WH Smith,  Burtons and Argos, but some of them are housed in old (possibly listed) buildings that are in bad need of repair and bringing into the 21st century.

The town does have a library which as served the town for more years than I have been on this planet, and is one of the few places where things have at least tried to keep up with things.

Long Eaton is quite central to some historical places, Chatsworth House, Elvaston Castle and Nottingham Castle to name a few
